Without the Ethernet modern commerce can not work. Our modern economy is strong on the fast, smooth transfer of data. I find it odd that the inventor of the system, the networking of these occur are only known to computer geeks . Robert Metcalfe and David Boggs work on the Ethernet, it is important for the 21st century as Good as a castle, where until the 15th century.

The Ethernet is the system by which computers communicate with each other and with devices such as printers and scanners. The computers are on a Local Area Network (LAN) using Ethernet cables and hubs. The network is closed to those not connected to the LAN. Ethernet is different from the Internet, is an open network, the telephone and broadband countries for the transmission of data.

The couple went to the construction of a number of Ethernet interfaces for Xerox and later published Ethernet: Distributed Packet Switching for Local Computer Networks on the Communication of ACM. This was the pioneering work on Ethernet.

Boggs later left and formed PARC LAN Media Corporation, Metcalfe left in 1979 and founded 3Com.
