Introduction

Very often people with the words idea and invention too vague, never thought about the exact meaning of these words. Perhaps in this casual conversation practice enough, however, if we talk in legal terms, these words have different meaning and it should be clearly separated.

Defining idea

In legal terminology the word idea is something abstract, something that you do not feel or touch. For example, you might have an idea to improve a hydraulic turbine. However, until you produce proper documentation and technical drawings, which accurately explain the inner workings of the machines, there is only ... an idea, an abstract and vague solution to the problem that you are trying to solve.

Defining Invention

Invention, on the other hand, is good and formalized solution for specific problem.
We are no longer a hypothetical machine or a process, on the contrary, the design has been carefully analyzed and documented. In fact, United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will only grant patents, inventors, whose work is well written, with instructions written clearly enough to understand the person with similar qualifications as the inventor. In addition, the USPTO encourages inventors to the so-called "The best condition '- which means that the inventor should be the best method to achieve the desired results.

Should all inventions be patented?

Should all inventions be patented? In my opinion, inventions that have no practical purpose and unrealistic in its implementation should not be patented. Some inventors so obsessed with their inventions that they are blind to reality and not to recognize that their invention is impractical. They forge before spending money on patent lawyers only to realize at the end, that their invention is only a castle in the sand. In situations like this, all that is needed is a fresh look at the problem at hand. The original idea would have been brilliant, but the inventor has chosen the wrong way in the production of unique solution for the problem.

Abstract

To summarize, it is important for an inventor to distinguish between the words and thoughts. Terminalogy This comes in handy if the inventor is ready for his next step in the protection of his invention by patentining them.
